PBS To Add Television Studio At Hard Rock Bristol

PBS Adding TV Studio To Hard Rock

The Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Bristol, Virginia announced that it’s partnered with PBS Appalachia to put a brand spankin’ new TV studio in the resort currently under construction. Slated for completion in late 2024, the 4,000 square foot studio will be viewable by the public. You can see productions in progress while you try your luck in the casino. When PBS isn’t producing a show, they’ll be a big virtual wall showing PBS Appalachia programming. The studio will produce both TV and podcast programming.

“Partnering with Hard Rock is a perfect fit for PBS Appalachia because we are both community-minded companies who want to help move the region forward,” according to Julie Newman, the General Manager of PBS Appalachia in her interview with the Bristol Herald Courier. “We are grateful for their partnership and support.”

About PBS Appalachia

PBS Appalachia Virginia hopes to show the public a different side of Southwest Virginia, with its rich communities and natural beauty on full display. As of June 10, the new station has a live stream online at PBSAVirginia.org. There’s a new PBS Appalachia Virginia mobile app, too. There are three locally produced programs featured. “French Magnolia Cooks” stars Chef Missy on a farm to table expedition in search of great cuisine.  “Hometowns,” is a travel show featuring Southwest Virginia communities and an authentic look small-town living.  “The Life of a Musician” has interviews and performances from some of America’s most talented guitarists in a raw and unscripted format.

PBS Appalachia has a new online presence.

A PBS studio isn’t exactly the type of thing we’d expect to see in a casino. As far as we know, this partnership is the first of its kind. Hard Rock Bristol is certainly doing its best to endear itself to the local community and put down some roots. Maybe PBS will give us some programming on blackjack strategies and how to play craps now?
