Caesars Virginia Is Building A Temporary Casino In Danville

As we reported previously, Caesars Entertainment is building a casino and resort in Danville, Virginia.  Caesars is betting big on the area with a projected $500 million investment.  The resort will include hundreds of hotel rooms, a casino, sportsbook and World Series of Poker room, restaurants, and an entertainment venue for live shows.  That’s… going to take awhile to build up.

In the meantime, Caesars has received approval to build a temporary casino that will open in the summer of 2023. The temporary casino is being built at the same Schoolfield Site as the permanent location.  While temporary, the casino will be a full-fledged affair with restaurants and table games, along with a lotta slot machines.

Check out the progress they’ve made so far in this video that Caesars posted recently:

When the project was announced about a year ago, officials were hoping for a grand opening in late 2023.  That date’s already been pushed back, with a projected opening some time in 2024 for the resort.  At this rate, we’d be surprised to see Caesars hit that deadline, but maybe things will pick up soon.  You know, all that supply chain stuff you keep hearing about is making projects like this take forever.  A continued shortage of skilled labor is another challenge.  Caesars is going full steam ahead and hiring construction workers in earnest.  You can visit the Caesars Virginia website to apply if you’re interested.

Caesars Virginia will be a great option for those in the Raleigh-Durham Triangle area, with only an hour and twenty-minute drive to Danville.  Folks living in the Greensboro and Piedmont Triad area can get to Danville in about an hour.
