Two Kings Expects To Have Sports Betting In Time For Football Season

Are you ready for some football?!  And, are you ready to bet on it?!  While the NC legislature continues to mull over a bill that would legalize sports gambling in the state, casinos on Indian tribal lands are going full steam ahead with their plans that sportsbooks will be a big boost for business.  The prospects of a statewide policy aren’t looking good after the most recent bill legalizing sports betting recently stalled in the NC house.  Industry experts are expecting that the Two Kings Casino in Kings Mountain, NC will be the third sports book open in the state once football kicks off in late August.

Harrah’s operates two casinos on Cherokee lands in the far western part of the state.  Harrah’s Cherokee and Harrah’s Cherokee River Valley casinos both opened their sports books last year.  We’ve had quite a lot of fun at the Harrah’s Cherokee one already!  Two Kings Casino apparently wants to get in on the action, and for good reason.  Sports betting, both the legal and off the books kind, is a huge business.  No doubt that the Two Kings Casino resort will have a nice sportsbook when the permanent location is fully up and running, but that will be years from now.  It’s interesting that they’ve got intentions to get something going for this season.  Right now, the casino is only operating slot machines in some temporary trailers just off Interstate 85.

All this is according to a consultant in the industry, who’s been working with Two Kings and the Catawba Nation for a couple of years advising them on the sports betting opportunity.  Will his prediction turn out to be true?  Or are sports fans in the area going to have to wait a little longer for a physical sportsbook?  Maybe folks will have to keep their wagers confined to the online realm for one more season.  Anybody wanna bet on it?
